Modesty for the Bridal/Prom dress

 

What happens when Christian girls try to find modest prom or bridal wear? Well, usually they are limited to classic lines with either round or boat necks, with v neck being too low to choose and ditto for scoop necks. Short sleeves are usually paired with a low neckline or are modest but have a plain satin fabric. Now a classic style isn't bad. But when the same styles are used over and over sometimes a girl just wants to be unique! Which is why I've created a whole bridal interest board full of unique modest styles I have collected over the years.

  Anne's wincey dress: A comparison. Book: when we first meet the well-loved red-headed heroine is wearing                          “very short, very tight, very ugly dress of yellowish-white wincey”  W incey is a fabric originating in the British isles made of a twill weave with a linen warp and a woollen weft. Sense and Sensibility: A Review

  The first of Jane Austen's novels to be published, (1811), Sense and Sensibility is a masterpiece that has thrilled readers for over 200 years. It was adapted for screen in the 90s by Miramax studios and again in 2008 by the BBC. The novel itself, when I first read it, was a sheer delight. I particularly recollect the highlight of a cliffhanger at the end of one chapter that kept me hooked, spurring me on to the next. I would definitely recommend Sense and Sensibility for Jane Austen fans, who require a taste of her unbeatable characterisation, the incorporation of themes that the entire novel revolves around. Little Women 2019 and 1990s movies vs reality: Meg March

      W hilst the new 2019 L ittle W omen was an interesting film ,  fresh and new with a whole different style to any other version of the beloved tale we have seen before…   one finds oneself dist r acted by the strange decisions of the director to A. have the timeline completely out of wack and B. to have the costume design so that one would hardly know what era it was in if not for a me n tions of the war and knowledge of the book that keep it in place. B ut I am here for the costumes...    A nyway ,  let us start with this picture and specifically M eg, the oldest sister and the one who wants to "fit in"(quote M ichara T ewers) .   T he first thing you notice is her big neon green scarf  -  wow ,  you think how is that historically accurate ?   B ut sorry to say it IS in fact an ava i l a ble dye in this time period …  but characteristically it makes no sense .   A lthough the designers wanted green and purple to be Meg's colours so to speak ,   I think from the book
